Housing affordability is one of the biggest challenges facing Kelowna. While City Council doesn’t directly build housing, it has an important role in creating the conditions that allow more attainable housing to be built.

I support increasing the supply of diverse housing options—from single-family homes and townhomes to purpose-built rental and attainable housing for young families, seniors, and essential workers. We also need to reduce unnecessary delays in the development approval process while ensuring new neighbourhoods include the parks, transportation, schools, and infrastructure residents need.

As someone who has worked closely with growth planning in the school district, I understand the importance of planning ahead so infrastructure keeps pace with growth.

Taxpayers deserve responsible financial management.

As Chair of Finance and Planning for the Central Okanagan School District, I’ve overseen budgets exceeding $400 million, navigated difficult financial decisions, and always looked for ways to maximize value for taxpayers while protecting essential services.

I believe every dollar should be carefully examined. Council should prioritize core services, carefully evaluate new spending, pursue grants whenever possible, and ensure long-term financial planning prevents costly surprises in the future.

Good governance means balancing today’s needs without placing an unfair burden on future taxpayers.

Traffic congestion affects everyone’s quality of life.

We need a balanced transportation strategy that improves traffic flow, upgrades key intersections, expands active transportation options, and works closely with the province and regional partners on long-term transportation solutions.

As our community grows, transportation planning must happen before neighbourhoods become overwhelmed. Better coordination between land-use planning, road improvements, transit, cycling, and pedestrian infrastructure will help reduce congestion while giving residents more transportation choices.

Homelessness is both a human issue and a community issue.

People deserve compassion and access to supports, while neighbourhoods deserve to feel safe and welcoming.

The City cannot solve homelessness alone. We need stronger partnerships with the Province, Interior Health, community agencies, law enforcement, and non-profit organizations to improve access to housing, mental health care, addiction treatment, and outreach services.

The City should continue advocating for provincial investment while ensuring public spaces remain safe, clean, and accessible for everyone.

Public safety is fundamental to a thriving community.

Residents should feel safe in their homes, businesses, parks, and neighbourhoods.

I support continuing to invest in policing, bylaw enforcement, fire protection, emergency preparedness, and crime prevention initiatives. I also believe many public safety challenges require prevention as well as enforcement—supporting youth, families, mental health services, and community partnerships helps address issues before they become larger problems.

Building safe communities requires collaboration, accountability, and proactive planning.

My priorities are clear:

I want Council to focus on practical solutions that improve everyday life for residents.

Growth is inevitable—but poor planning is not.

Kelowna should grow in a way that protects the character of existing neighbourhoods while creating complete communities where people can live, work, learn, and play.

Growth must be accompanied by investments in roads, parks, recreation facilities, utilities, public safety, schools, and transportation infrastructure. Having spent years planning for school capacity and community growth, I understand that infrastructure must keep pace with development—not follow years behind.

Thoughtful planning today creates stronger communities tomorrow.

I bring 15 years of proven public service and governance experience.

As a four-term School Trustee, former Board Chair, Vice-Chair, and current Chair of Finance and Planning, I have helped oversee one of British Columbia’s largest school districts through periods of significant growth, complex budgets, major capital projects, and important policy decisions.

Throughout my career, I’ve built strong working relationships with provincial ministries, municipal leaders, Indigenous communities, business leaders, community organizations, and residents. I understand how government works, how to build consensus, and how to make thoughtful decisions based on evidence and community input.

Most importantly, I believe leadership is about listening. I want to bring a collaborative, respectful, fiscally responsible, and community-focused approach to Kelowna City Council so we can build a city that continues to be an exceptional place to live, work, and raise a family.
